What Constitutes a Pet Emergency?

It may be tricky to know what is a pet emergency and what isn't. A good rule of thumb is if you aren't sure, give us a call! We are here to be your pet's health partner, and would rather you be safe when it comes to pet emergencies.

The below are considered pet emergencies. If your pet is experiencing any of the below, give us a call as soon as possible.

  • Choking or having difficulty breathing
  • Hit by a car or suffered blunt-force trauma of any kind
  • Ingested a foreign object such as a toy, sock, or string
  • Ingested something poisonous
  • Profuse bleeding
  • Inability to move or stand
  • Unusually warm or cold
  • Having a seizure
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Excessive vomiting and/or severe diarrhea
  • Blood in stool
  • Unable to pass stool or urinate
  • Dog fights, especially if there was blood
  • Bee stings or snake bites, which can often be poisonous
  • Toxicity in any form (from eating chocolate to consuming suspected poison)
